This expertise builds on the experience of EDF and R&D EDF, which for over 35 years has developed scientific and technological codes and open source software in areas such as numerical simulation of structures, fluid mechanics, and even environmental hydraulics modeling.
A software legacy capitalizing on years of research and expertise in numerical simulation.
In 2005, code_aster, the first major mechanics code, was made available. Today, it is the open-source reference for numerical simulation and structural mechanics. The current community of EDF calculation code users brings together 10,000 active members. Dozens of professions already use the 4 software packages code_aster, code_saturne, OpenTELEMAC and SALOME for intensive complex physical simulations.
To cover the full range of skills required for the services offered, Simvia has already concluded contracts with two partners: the specialized engineering firm PHIMECA and the company LINAGORA, a French leader in the publishing of open source software. The partnership between EDF and CEA in the development of the SALOME software aims to create a free and multi-platform scientific computing platform for the realization of industrial studies and physical simulation.
