[Simvia Insider #4] Platine Master: Rethinking Base Plate Design
What if designing a column base plate no longer took 2 to 4 hours? Discover our prototype and help us shape what comes next.
Overview
The fourth episode of the Simvia Insider series, this free 45-minute webinar offers a first look at Platine Master, the prototype developed by Simvia to design anchor plates (column base plates) using the finite element method, with code_aster running in the cloud.
Base plate design comes up in almost every steel structure project. Despite existing tools, it remains a repetitive task that can take an experienced engineer 2 to 4 hours, calculation report included. Platine Master runs directly in a web browser, with no installation and no dependency on a proprietary vendor. During this webinar, the Simvia team will show what has been built so far, what remains to be solved, and gather your feedback to shape the next steps of development.
Why attend
- See the tool in action: follow Platine Master's approach to column base plate design, from entering geometry and loads through to analyzing the results.
- Influence decisions before they are locked in: the product is still under development. Model validation and qualification, code coverage, section library, load transfer, API, batch calculations: your input matters.
- Share your practices: discuss what slows you down today, the limits of the tools you use, and the level of justification your projects require.
What you will learn
01 – The problem
- Why base plate design remains time-consuming despite the available solutions
02 – The Platine Master approach
- Where the tool could fit among existing solutions
03 – Live prototype demo
- Geometry, loads, meshing, finite element analysis and results, step by step
04 – Open questions
- Qualification, code coverage, section data, load transfer, API, batch calculations
05 – Your feedback
- What is missing from the tool
- What would stop you from using it
- What would save you enough time to adopt it
