Our trainers

Our courses are given by the engineers and PhDs who develop and support the software every day, and use it on industrial projects.

Louis Haurie
HPC engineer
openTELEMAC
Holding a PhD in theoretical condensed matter physics, I am now a scientific computing engineer at Simvia. Following my doctorate, I transitioned into the simulation industry, which offered broader career prospects while allowing me to remain connected to physics. Passionate about understanding reality, I continue to be involved in various research and science communication projects in my spare time. Within Simvia, my background as a theoretician makes me versatile and present across all of our codes. With a strong sense for pedagogy, I produce most of the tutorial videos on Simvia's YouTube channel, with a particular focus on the clear and rigorous presentation of both conceptual physics and numerical aspects. With already one year of experience supporting industries working in hydraulic simulation, CFD and structural analysis, I have a solid understanding of the typical interests and use cases of OpenTELEMAC across various sectors.

Basile Marchand
Computational mechanics tech lead
code_aster · Salomé
I am an expert in computational mechanics and a trainer in scientific simulation. Holding a PhD in computational mechanics, I spent several years in academia, working in close collaboration with industry on advanced modeling and finite element analysis challenges. Alongside my research activities and collaborative projects, I taught programming and scientific computing at an engineering school, which allowed me to develop solid pedagogical experience. Today, as Computational Mechanics Tech Lead at Simvia, I bring over 10 years of experience in computational mechanics and industrial simulation environments. I design and deliver high-value training programs for engineers, R&D teams, and PhD students, with a strong emphasis on combining theoretical rigor, software best practices, and real-world applications. My goal is to make complex concepts accessible and to offer a clear progression toward operational skills that can be put to use immediately after training — from an introduction to the methods all the way through to their integration into industrial workflows.

Walter Casas
Civil Engineer
code_aster · Salomé
I am a civil engineer specialized in structural analysis and numerical simulation, with over 5 years of experience in the nuclear sector. Expert in finite element analysis using code_aster, I am proficient in both linear and non-linear approaches for the design and verification of complex structures subjected to extreme seismic loadings. My background has provided solid expertise in applying nuclear regulations (RCC-CW, EDF capacity guide) and Eurocodes. Passionate about open-source tools and advanced computational methods, I support industrial clients in their numerical simulation challenges.

Florian Hermet
Senior CFD engineer
Salomé · code_saturne
Holding a PhD and teaching in fluid mechanics, I practice CFD with one simple conviction: a simulation is only useful if you truly understand what you are doing. Every mesh, every model, every convergence criterion directly influences the results. Between advanced research and industrial projects, I have learned to never take a simulation for granted and to always challenge it against the physics and common sense. In my training courses on code_saturne, I share a pragmatic approach: structuring your methodology, avoiding classic pitfalls, and producing reliable and defensible simulations. My goal is simple: to make you autonomous and confident in your simulations.
