Who can attend inter-company training sessions?
Our sessions are primarily aimed at:
- Simulation, R&D or design engineers working in the field of numerical simulation.
- Profiles with a background in Finite Elements and structural analysis (basic knowledge of meshing, boundary conditions, post-processing).
- Users looking to structure their practice of code_aster and its ecosystem (Salomé, ParaView, Mfront, etc.).
Who can participate in these training sessions for academics?
Our sessions are primarily intended for:
- Faculty members and researchers
- Doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers
How many employees from the same company can register?
Our inter-company sessions are ideal for training 1 to 5 employees. From 6 people onwards, we recommend switching to an in-house training course. This format allows us to tailor the examples to your specific business challenges.
What are the hardware and software prerequisites?
Hardware requirements
A personal computer with at least 8 GB of RAM (16 GB recommended) and a recent processor is sufficient to complete all the hands-on exercises. No dedicated graphics card is required.
Software requirements
The training course uses the Salomé-Meca suite (which includes Salomé, code_aster, and ParaVis), available for free on the open-simulation-center.org website, as well as VSCode and the Simvia VSCode_aster extension. Detailed installation instructions, tailored to each operating system (Linux, Windows), will be sent to you before the training so that you can arrive with your environment up and running.
Note for institutional users: On some lab or university computers, administrative permissions may restrict software installation. We recommend that you check the installation process with your IT department before the training.

Fallback solution
If you encounter an installation problem despite following the instructions, Simvia can provide preconfigured computers for the duration of the training. Please let us know no later than the day before the session so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
Who are the trainers?
Our training courses are led by structural analysis engineers and PhDs, who are expert daily users of code_aster at Simvia. As advanced users and contributors, they go beyond theory: they share with you best practices, troubleshooting tips and real-world industrial experience.
Will I receive a certificate upon completion of the training?
Yes. Each participant receives an official training completion certificate. This document attests to your active participation in the training and details all the modules and technical skills acquired (fundamentals, meshing, solving, post-processing).
Does a specialisation module exist after this training?
Absolutely. Our offering is designed to support your long-term skill development.

Can you adapt the content to my specific cases?
To ensure a solid foundation for all participants, inter-company sessions follow an optimised standard programme. If you wish to work directly on your own geometries, your own business cases or your internal workflows, we recommend in-house training. We then co-build the programme with you to precisely address the challenges of your sector.
