Context
Qualifying critical equipment for seismic resistance is a lengthy and costly process. Our client faced a twofold challenge: a design workflow that was fragmented in terms of tools (both numerical and experimental), and a lack of agility in accessing the necessary computing power at the right time. It was therefore necessary to provide a flexible computing solution to streamline and accelerate a high-stakes design phase.
Simvia’s approach
- Joint development of a bespoke solution combining expertise and technology:
- A hybrid, sovereign computing platform: Deployment of a containerised HPC version of code_aster (Singularity) on a third-party platform, providing on-demand access to virtually unlimited computing power.
- Expertise enabling autonomy: Integration of complex computational methods and development of interoperability scripts to enable subject-matter engineers to carry out their daily simulations entirely independently.
Results
- Ongoing adoption by business engineers of the scripts developed for them through mentoring sessions: fully autonomous and confident business engineers
- Six weeks for the end client to validate the design methodology: a record timeframe made possible by the smooth flow of the new workflow.
- A new level of agility in the design phase, freeing teams from software and hardware constraints so they can focus on their core business: engineering.
