Context
For our client, a Canadian research centre developing a state-of-the-art neutronics solver, SALOME’s complexity was proving to be a hindrance. The aim was to put the full power of the platform into the hands of its researchers, focusing on the features that were genuinely useful to them. All of this within their preferred environment: macOS.
Simvia’s approach
- A recompilation focused on those SALOME modules that are strictly necessary for researchers’ workflows, running directly on macOS.
- A streamlined interface that displays only a minimalist working environment entirely dedicated to their tasks, eliminating any source of confusion.
- Seamless integration of the platform with an open-source neutron physics solver developed in Canada
Results
- A bespoke version of SALOME – stable, fully functional and intuitive – delivered in just 10 days.
- By retaining only the essentials, the final executable has been slimmed down by over 80 per cent, offering a smooth and responsive user experience.
- Immediate adoption by researchers, who were able to focus on their simulations without being held back by the tool’s complexity.
